Note from Chief Operating Officer

Aanii:

On behalf of our entire staff, welcome to the Anishinabek Nation website.

The Union of Ontario Indians is the corporation that coordinates political activity for the 40 First Nations across Ontario that make up the Anishinabek Nation.  Our main role is to politically advocate to various other governments on behalf of our member communities and their 55,000 citizens.

Over 80 employees at our head office on Nipissing First Nation, just outside of North Bay, and at three satellite offices have expertise in areas like health, education, intergovernmental affairs and self-government. Together we work as a team that takes great pride in being of service to our Nation.

Communications with our member communities as well as our neighbours is very important to us.   We recently revamped our website to enable us to provide the most current information to our citizens, and to allow us to be more interactive with them.

I trust you will find our website informative and interesting. If you would like further information about either the Anishinabek Nation or the role of the Union of Ontario Indians, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Miigwetch,

Walter Manitowabi
Chief Operating Officer
